Social media is all about SHARING. As a web designer/developer I research a lot of trends in social networking and social marketing. I came across this pretty little info graphic that shows some very valid facts on trends in sharing.
I think a lot of people that are not making posts for business purposes don’t really think about why or what they are sharing, that it’s somewhat unconscious and they don’t realize the impact of their content could have on how people view them. Anyhow, check this out and PLEASE share something relevant.

Being part of a community and coercing with other people in your field will make you better in that field. That’s just how it works. Be social, give info, get info, talk to the world. I often participate in social networks, and not just twispacebookdin. Here’s a list of Communities, Forums, and Social Networks for designers and creative types.

Yoono combines all of your social networks into a customizable and toggle-able sidebar on Firefox. If you dont use Firefox, they have a beta version for losers that use Explorer. This plugin saves me tons of time every single day. You can post updates, drag and drop, and share things to all of your networks at once(if you want to). Yoono joins my elite list of plugins for Firefox that I would be cringing without. The best part of this is that Yoono is for everyone with more-than-one social network or IM account. Know anybody in that category? Yeah, you know.

The world of young (and some old) business professionals has been swept by online social networking and instant messaging services. With so many readily available on both desktop and mobile devices, using these methods of communication comes second hand with work tasks. This up rise in technology over the past half-decade and busier work schedules have made the working professionals often overlook the the true value of 1 on 1 interaction.
How did this all happen? Tracking back to 2004, I personally didn’t belong to any online social network aside from emails and college student portals. Reports show that social networking has grown 93% since 2006. Facebook alone has grown 500% since ’06. IM, blogs, photo sharing, texts, forums, you can get it however you want it. It’s become almost standard in conversation to ask an acquaintance or collegue if they belong to a network. All this makes you think, “How did we communicate before social networking?”
